Having a disease such as diabetes does not mean that you have to stop eating your favorite foods, such as cake. It does mean, however, that you will have to substitute the sugar that is contained in these foods for much healthier choices. This also does not mean that you will have to compromise on taste either because you will never be able to tell the difference if your cake recipes were made from a sweetener other than real sugar. There are some cakes that you can make which do not contain any sugar and there are even some cakes that are very healthy and good for you.

There is a fruit cake recipe for diabetics that uses unsweetened apple sauce as one of the main ingredients for the cake. This cake would be so moist that it would just melt in your mouth. There is another recipe that uses orange juice as one of the main ingredients. These would be far healthier choices than real sugar. Cake Recipes that contain ingredients other than sugar would be a healthy choice for someone with diabetes. People with diabetes have to monitor their sugar levels as well as try to live a healthier lifestyle. They need to watch their diet, exercise more and make sure that they are taking the medications they are prescribed. Reducing stress in their life would also help them to be healthier. Stress can be deadly.

It is sometimes hard for a diabetic to pass up on the old-fashioned cake recipes that they have been accustomed to their entire life. However, if they want to be assured that they are going to live a healthier life, they do have to make some sacrifices. There are good recipes that will substitute real sugar for fruit juices or artificial sweeteners as these would be a healthier choice for them. Some of the other substitutes for sugar include sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, saccharine and stevia.

Diabetics that love chocolate don’t have to give up their chocolate cake recipes but there are some choices they will have to consider for chocolate. Chocolate with a high level of cocoa solids are a good choice for a diabetic and dark chocolate is also a very good choice. There is a type of chocolate nowadays that is made specifically for people with diabetes which would also be a very good choice for them.

Just because a diagnosis of diabetes has been made does not signify that you should throw away all your cake recipes. Instead, it is a good idea to take stock of which recipes you have and take a good look at the ingredients in each of them. If there is a high sugar content, you can always choose to substitute the sugar in these recipes for a sweetener that would be suitable for you. It makes a much healthier choice for you. You don’t have to give up the good things in life when you are diagnosed with diabetes but you will want to be more careful about the food products you choose to eat.
